NV5 is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the Transportation Planning and Engineering Group in our Albuquerque Office.
The preferred candidate will have a highway/roadway planning and engineering background, proven project management skills, and a record of successful client relations and business development.
The person in this position is responsible for providing technical expertise on a wide range of transportation engineering issues, managing teams of engineering and related professionals to achieve project objectives, being the primary point of contact with client project leads, and contributing to the business goals of the group.

Responsibilities: High level expertise in highway/roadway planning, engineering, and construction.
Knowledge of dependent planning and design services and disciplines including environmental, survey and right-of-way, traffic, drainage, structures, geotechnical, landscaping, etc.
Knowledge of public agency programming and funding methods.
Knowledge of NMDOT project development policies and procedures.
Knowledge of City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County project development procedures.
Ability to independently plan, schedule, and perform multiple projects/assignments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to write technical reports and business development materials.
Ability to effectively lead meetings and presentations.
High skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Powerpoint.
Ability to effectively use these tools for planning, communication, and collaboration with project teams and clients.
Ability to work in CAD design software including Autocad/Civil3D and Microstation/InRoads.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
Ability to effectively direct project teams and collaborate with clients.
Ability to provide constructive feedback on project team performance.
Ability to form and maintain trusted relationships with clients to obtain new and repeat business.
Availability to occasionally work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Project Management: Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality to meet client and business objectives.
Organize and schedule work activities of project teams.
Provide leadership and technical guidance to project team members.
Coordinate with other Project Managers to balance staff workload and schedules Coordinate project activities with clients and sub-consultants Mentor and train staff to expand technical and project management expertise.
Implement company policies and procedures for the execution of projects.
Prepare monthly project reports, invoicing, and progress reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Business Development: Develop and maintain trusted working relationships with essential clients.
Identify, track, and pursue new projects and business opportunities.
Develop and prepare technical and business proposals.
Develop scopes of work and fee proposals.
Negotiate contracts and subcontracts.
Active participation in professional organizations.
Qualifications: Education/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
10 years’ experience in transportation engineering with emphasis in highways/roadways.
3 years’ experience as lead engineer or deputy project manager on highway/roadway projects.
Certifications/Licenses: New Mexico Professional Engineer is required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
Valid New Mexico Driver’s License is required.
