Job Description
To direct and oversee daily work tasks and assignments for grade crew.
Be a mentor, coach and leader for grade crew with the ability to transfer all knowledge, abilities and skills to the crew.
Be recognized as expert in the field of grading with the knowledge and skills required to perform and teach all grading techniques including heavy equipment operation to highly skilled tasks such as reading plans, utilizing eye level and laser grading instruments and setting sub and finish grade from staking and plans.
Be sound in use of technologies for recording and reporting work efforts including equipment inspections to daily quantities and other on line forms.
Job Requirements
Supervise crew members in the proper techniques and practices required to fulfill project needs and requirements.
Read and interpret plans and specifications pertaining to work assigned to crew and complete this work effort in accordance with those requirements.
Ensure work quality and quantities are met or exceeded as outlined on the Project Labor Production Reports (LPR) and identify areas that are not and offer ways to enhance or correct production shortfalls.
Make Superintendent and/or PM/APM aware of material, equipment and other needs in a timely manner so work progress does not suffer or stop.
Working knowledge of reading plans, specifications and special provisions and ability to transfer information to the grade and teach crew members to do the same
Operate a motor grader and prepare sub-grade to within .
05 and finish grade to within .

Have a thorough knowledge and working understanding of how to calculate and track daily quantities pertaining to all types of materials including borrow, sand, gravel base and demolitions of existing features like concrete and asphalt.
Salary
$65,000- $91,000
*Average base salary depends on experience; does not include overtime or bonuses.
